About Us

“During 24 years of experience in treating posture and 22 years treating TMJD, I’ve noticed that changing mindsets, through education and home exercises, is a crucial part of my protocol success.”

Raquel da Costa Rangel, PT, MPT, MA

Our Story

My journey to becoming an expert in TMJD started back in 1996, while I was still a Physical Therapy student. This path has 1024 hours shown in the following list of certificates and transcripts for Muscle Chain Principles -GPR/RPG (French Method), Posture, and TMJD:

  • 3 extra-curricular courses in 1996 and 1997 totalizing 150 hours of courses, as an attendee,
  • 1 extra-curricular course of 40 hours as a TUTOR for the students due to my knowledge and previous courses in the field;
  • 2 National Conferences having 2 full days of content, 16 hours (1997),
  • 238 hour-course (7credits) of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy Applied to Orthopedics through muscle chain principles (GPR/RPG) during my PT Bachelor in 1997, and
  • 268 hour-course of Kinesiology through muscle chain principles during my PT Bachelor in 1998, as a TUTOR (Monitor) for the students one year behind me at school.
  • Case-Study in Posture, showing how through muscle chain point of view a cause of chronic Hip Pain and Inflammation was resolved in a professional basketball player, presented in a Regional PT Science Encounter, around 42 hours of work 1999.
  • 270 hours of specific course during my Specialization in Orthopedics Program, all based on muscle chain principles:
    1. Anatomy of muscle chains (30 hours),
    2. Physical Therapy Evaluation (30 hours),
    3. Clinical Traumatic Orthopedic (60 hours),
    4. PT applied in Orthopedics (120 hours), and
    5. Biomechanics and Kinesiology (30 hours).

(Appedix 8- certificates proving how I acquired my knowledge and expertise in 1024 hours of courses). All these totalizing 1024 hours, during my years of Orthopedics studies, were focused in;

  1. understanding the principle of Muscle Chains,
  2. TMJD (ATM in Portuguese), and
  • Postural Evaluation through Global Postural Reeducation (GPR/RPG).
  1. Manual Therapy Techniques
  2. Ergonomics consultation

These five fields of knowledge are the basis of my TMJD treatment approach. For this reason, TMJ techniques that I apply in the treatment of my patients are so unique and unmatched.

After graduating and becoming a licensed PT, I became an Orthopedic Specialist in 2002. Ever since, I have been working with orthopedic patients through the muscle chain (GPR/RPG principles) addressing TMJ disorders with a unique technique for more than 12 years.

My GPR/RPG techniques have been very successful in treatments for scoliosis, kyphosis, and low back pain. In November 2021, the Journal of Clinical Medicine published a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Study, which is the highest level of scientific support for a healthcare treatment, stating how much GPR (or Global Postural Reeducation) is a reliable and effective method to treat low back pain. However, this is not a method that is part of the USA PT school’s curriculum. Due to my background overseas, this method was the basis of my treatments used to treat not only low back pain, but also many orthopedics problems. One of my endeavors as a Physical Therapist is to contribute to my patient’s lives with my high educational and professional level and my skills, including my expertise in TMJD and Tensional Headaches treatment using, among others,  GPR/RPG technics.  I have performed these treatments to American citizens since June 2020, with many positive Google Reviews about different treatments and effectiveness of my skills using Muscle Chain principles.

Our Mission and Vision

MyPhysioCoach was created because of the deep compassion its founder has for her patients.

Our mission is empowering every person with chronic TMJD and Tensional headaches to continue their lives, being able to manage their body by themselves as long as possible after a PT treatment through “Sandwich Method”.

“In my first years as Physical Therapist, I’ve seen so many patients coming back with pain, after a few months of their PT treatment discharge. I was so upset to see my patients in pain again. They had come for treatment, felt much better, had no symptoms, and after a few months they were back to treat the same issue. I could not hide my frustration.  Then, I decided to include my experience as a PT professor to my treatments incorporating patient’s education to my treatments. I combined the complete education with my Plan of Care in 2004, and since then the success has been amazing. Every time that one of the few patients who needed to come back with the same issue, I knew it, “You didn’t do you Home Program, right?” and the answer 100% of the times was, “How do you know it? Unfortunately, I was feeling so great that I neglected my HEP.”

Our vision, train professionals and patients in how to manage their bodies after a PT treatment, how to prevent tensional headaches and TMJD through improving posture and ergonomics in their workstation. Also, education program of “Sandwich Method” to treat TMJD and Tensional Headaches effectively.

“During 24 years of experience in treating posture and 22 years treating TMJD, I’ve noticed that a crucial part of the successful protocol I assembled is changing mindsets. We envision incorporating ergonomics consultation and postural transformation through RPG (muscle chain method) to TMJD and tensional headache treatments to guarantee the long-term effects of the treatment.”

Online Training for clients who work in offices or home- offices who want to prevent TMJD or Tensional Headache.

Online courses for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists who want to use “Sandwich Method” to better treat their patients.

Patient’s Testimonials

I came in with terrible jaw pain and had a headache for three months straight. I had been diagnosed with TMD by several specialists. My condition was so severe that my shoulders were uneven, my neck was pushed forward, and my bite was way off. I knew my bite was off, but I had no idea that my posture, neck, and shoulders were out of alignment until I met Raquel.

The first day she treated me, I felt immediate relief. After 32 years of my TMD progressively worsening—and the last three months of terrible headaches—I finally found relief. Now my posture is better, my jaw doesn’t hurt, and my bite is actually being corrected! I’m so grateful for Raquel!
